The parish group of
Ntro. Padre Jesús de la Verdad before Caifás and María Santísima del Sagrario,
based in the parish of San José Obrero in the neighborhood of Carranque in
Málaga, will present for the procession on next Passion Saturday, April 1,
2023, the completion of the sculptural group of its Christian owner. Thus, the
last 2 images of the set will be released.
The first will be
the figure of a Sanhedrin soldier, the work and donation of the Philippine
artist Wilfredo Tadeo Layug, also the author of the two main images of the
corporation. For the realization of this new character, the Malaga restorer
Miguel Ángel Gálvez has also participated, who has proceeded to work on the
assembly and consolidation of the piece, which presents his fully anatomized
body. The soldier's clothing was made by the embroiderer from Malaga, Juan
Manuel Sánchez Quiñones, and the leather goods (armor, skirt, bracelets and
sandals) are the work of José Sánchez Ferriz.
Thus, a mystery
ends up configuring in which before the serenity of Jesus of Truth, contrasts
the gesture of anger of the High Priest Caiaphas, tearing his clothes; his
father-in-law, Annas, in a gesture of surprise pointing to the torah with the
yad; and the violence of the new Sanhedrite soldier, who in a foreshortening
pulls the rope to remove the Lord from the scene.
According to
Layug's own words, the character, with marked ethnic features, seems to shout
to the Lord, and with his counterpost some interesting dynamisms are generated
in the final result of the double dialogue of the 4 actors.
